BYDS is thrilled to announce our new Principal of Elementary School for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year!
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Cortney Hebert (pronounced A-Bear) to our school in July 2020.
Ms. Hebert was unanimously recommended by the Principal Search Committee as she stood out from all of our candidates in her leadership style and experience in 21st-century learning, curriculum design and implementation, and faculty professional development. We are confident that her outgoing and approachable personality will be an ideal fit for our community.
Cortney has her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and is currently in her doctoral program for her EdD in Ethical Leadership. Presently, Cortney serves as the Assistant Lower School Head and Curriculum and Learning Coordinator for St. Marks here in Houston, where she has been working for the past 11 years. In her free time, Cortney and her almost 10-year-old son, Gavin, enjoy going to the movies and attending sporting events together.
Cortney’s curricular and secular background teamed with Ariel Rozen’s Jewish Life oversight makes for an expert, dynamic team. Together, they will lead our Elementary School (Pre-K through 5th grade) supporting all the needs of our students: academically, Jewishly, and socially/emotionally.
Thank you to the Principal Search Committee for participating in this process. On behalf of BYDS, we truly appreciate the time you dedicated to identifying important principal characteristics, reviewing resumes, and interviewing candidates. Thank you also to our parents, faculty, and staff who met with our candidates and your commitment to having your voices heard.
Please join us in welcoming Cortney and Gavin to the BYDS community. There will be opportunities to get to know Ms. Hebert in the spring. Stay tuned for more information…
