We have a brand new and exciting addition to our Early Childhood… The BEAM Interactive Projector!
BEAM is a projection screen that is mounted into the ceiling and turns any floor into an outdoor playground! This innovative system allows us to project both fun and educational games right onto the floor for students to enjoy.
BEAM promotes gross motor development (jumping, running, hopping, kicking), teamwork, and other educational skills such as color, shape, and number recognition.
Over the last two days, all early childhood classes had the opportunity to try it out. Beginning next week, BEAM will become part of the weekly routine (especially on rainy days!).
Next Wednesday (11/14), we will have BEAM on during drop off for you to see it in action.

We also celebrated our annual Kindness Week (Tikkun Middot). And what a week we had!! It kicked off with Respect: Team Kindness with The Houston Astros Mascot, Orbit, presenting “Strikeout Bullying”. Everyone loved it and it reinforced what we practice every day at BYDS. We also joined the Nationwide Choose Kind Marble Jar Challenge! Check our pictures to see how we ended up! We rolled into Responsibility: Powered by Kindness with superhero day. Each class was tasked with a different responsibility around campus. Backwards Shirt day represented words that hurts can’t be taken back and we worked toward cooperation with a Mix-it-up Lunch. Integrity : Dream of Kindness, we wore pajamas and participated in the Bracelet Kindness Challenge. Today we practiced Gratitude by writing thank you notes to staff & maintenance. Thank you to Alexandra Newman, Christine Phares, Marla Shields, Jackelyn Silverman, and Megan Uzick for planning such a special week for us! #bydsrakweek #KindnessStartsHere #bydssmiles
