I love the environment of the school, the team members, and the way that we work here.

How old were you when you decided to become a teacher?

I was 15 years old.

What is your favorite food?

I’m a food lover. I enjoy trying new dishes, but definitely Mediterranean food.

If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would you do instead?

One of the first things would be traveling with my family, because it’s the best way to experience other cultures and build memories with my son. I’d also open a kid-friendly Coffee shop,  I like to bake and I’m a coffee lover!

Rosie Moreno, Assistant THREEs Teacher

Rachel Toubin, 3rd Grade Teacher

What are you most proud of this year in regard to your work at BYDS?

I am very proud of myself, the students, and the other teachers that we were all able to learn to be flexible and go with the flow. We all stepped up to the challenge and made the best of the unique circumstances of this year. The students learned a great deal and are thriving. I was still able to help make school fun and exciting for the students.

What are your hobbies/interests (other than making BYDS great)?

Outside of school, my kids and family keep me quite busy between their sports, school activities, etc. I enjoy watching sports, walking, and spending time with my friends. The beach is my happy place!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

The advice I would give to my younger self would be to cherish the small moments, they pass too quickly.

What is your favorite treat?

Not really a treat, but I love Diet Dr Pepper.

LaTonya Turner, Lead THREEs Teacher

What are some traditions or superstitions you have for the First Day of School?

I make sure I get a good night’s rest! I’m always so eager for the first day, I can’t hardly wait to meet all the children and the parents! I love getting to school early and setting up the classroom for the children.

What is your favorite sport to watch? To play?

My favorite sport to watch is Football! I enjoy playing on the Ladies Kickball team that I’ve played on for about ten years back home in Austin.

What natural talent do you wish you had?

I wished I knew how to draw. I’ve always been a very creative person; however my drawing skills could use a lot of work!

Do you prefer reading paper or electronic books? I prefer reading a book, I like to get in my big comfy recliner and curl up with a good book any day!
