We have tuition payment options available and have established a well-funded financial aid program to support families who need assistance with tuition costs. We recognize the educational value of a school community that includes students with a variety of economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. As a result, we are committed to admitting qualified students, regardless of financial circumstances.
BYDS seeks to attract qualified individuals of diverse backgrounds to its student body. Consequently, the School does not discriminate in admission or educational program versus any individual on the basis of sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion, or any other category protected by federal, state, or local law.
The financial investment each family makes to underwrite Beth Yeshurun Day School’s educational program is substantial and we are committed to making the experience as affordable as possible for all families through our Financial Aid Program.
Financial Aid is need-based tuition assistance. Decisions regarding financial aid are made by the Financial Aid Committee based on the family’s demonstrated need and the availability of funds from the School. Such need is defined as the difference between the School’s tuition and what the family can reasonably contribute.
BYDS uses FACTS Financial Aid to process applications for financial aid. FACTS Management is a third-party agency utilized by independent schools nationwide to assist financial aid committees in evaluating need. The BYDS Financial Aid Committee determines the financial aid rewards. Award decisions are made by FACTS.
Many factors go into the determination of financial aid awards, such as household income and expenses, assets and indebtedness and number of children attending tuition-charging schools. Since individual family financial circumstances differ, the calculation of need will be unique to each circumstance. Given the many variables that influence an award decision, it is difficult to accurately predict a family’s financial aid award solely based on family income. However, we will provide the following table as a guide, but, it should not be used to assume a specific financial aid award for a given family income level.
If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please click here to fill out the application. Applications are due by March 1, 2018 to be considered for the 2018 – 2019 school year.
The following tax documents are required:
* Please follow the instructions on the FACTS web site to forward the documents directly to FACTS. There is no need to send a paper copy of these documents to the school.
Awards are made for one year at a time.
Awards are renewable each year that a family qualifies for aid, however, families must re-apply on an annual basis. Barring any significant changes in a family’s financial situation, and subject to the continued good standing of the student, a family can anticipate receiving comparable financial awards for the duration of a child’s BYDS experience.
We strongly encourage all families who will require financial assistance to meet our stated deadlines. We cannot guarantee funds will be available at the end of the admission season.
If you do not receive financial aid with your initial application, you should not expect to receive it in future years unless your family financial circumstances change.
We understand that situations may change due to job loss or illness or other life events. Please explain your situation on your application and expect to schedule a meeting to help us understand your current circumstances.
BYDS realizes that some families experience unexpected temporary financial stresses, due to the sudden loss of a job, family illness, unexpected medical expenses or other circumstances.Families are encouraged to contact the Business Office as soon as it become apparent there is a change in circumstance. The Business Office is happy to work with families to develop a temporary payment plan during a time of difficulty. We are unable to help if we are unaware of the changes in a family’s financial situation.
