BYDS Grandfriends Day 2018-2019

Dear BYDS Grandfriends,

Grandparents and special friends are a treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the cheerleaders, the great storytellers, and the keepers of family traditions. In my experience grandparents are kind, helpful, and generous people. They are always there to support us in everything we do.

This week we celebrated our Grandfriends Day. The children loved getting to share this experience with you and our staff loved getting to see you together. What a wonderful morning we shared together enjoying breakfast, participating in a musical demonstration, working on a fun activity, spending quality time together, and, of course, giving lots of hugs! We hope you were filled with a sense of pride watching your grandchildren grow and develop as good citizens and Jews. Keeping Judaism alive is a dynamic process passed from generation to generation (“le dor va dor”). START making memories HERE.

Thank you to all our volunteers, teachers, and staff for planning and coordinating this Grandfriends’ Day. You have truly done an outstanding job! A special thank you to: Taryn Braun, Esther Freedman, Lindsy Steinberg, Liba Stern, Leslie Sutin, and Amy Zadok (Grandfriends’ Day Co-Chairs), Jessi Gordon and Season Paquette (PTO Presidents), Kelly Cersonsky, Andrea Khale, Laurie Pickei, Jodi Skorupski, Rachel Strauss, Mari Taksa, Rachel Teichman, and Jenny Vargas (Grandfriends’ Day Volunteers).

Our music performances were sponsored by the Utay Concerts of Love series and is underwritten by Helen Utay and her children in memory of her late husband, Reuben Utay, who loved music. Beth Yeshurun Day School is very grateful to the Utay family for continuing to underwrite this marvelous event. May Reuben’s memory forever be a blessing.

Lastly, thank you to all those who bought a “leaf” on the Grandfriends’ Giving Tree in honor of their students. It is with these generous donations to our Annual Giving Fund that our school continues to teach our students with the highest standards of secular and Judaic education. If you missed your opportunity to donate, you still can through our BYDS website.

Warmly,

Dan Ahlstrom, Ed.D.
