Thank you for your interest in Beth Yeshurun Day School! You’re one step closer to joining our BYDS Family!
BYDS has served as Houston’s first in the Houston Community for more than 65 years as the first Jewish Day School in Houston. It is a school designed to prepare students with the skills and foundation to excel in a more global society. Our teachers partner together to deliver a creative, collaborative and enriching learning experience from the beginning of each child’s education journey through their fifth-grade graduation.
Step 1: Schedule a visit
Step 2: Apply
Submit a completed Application for Admission along with the $75 non-refundable application fee and your child’s birth certificate. Supporting documents must be submitted with the application. Click here to apply. If you plan to apply for tuition assistance, click here.
- Records/Transcripts Release Form & Corresponding Records (e.g., Transcripts, Test Scores)
- Teacher Recommendation
- Copy of Birth Certificate
Step 3: Admission Testing and School Visits
Once the application materials are received, the applicant will be scheduled for a classroom visitation day for pre-kindergarten and elementary school applicants. Your child will be screened to determine his/her Day School readiness, and you will have an opportunity to speak with an administrator. Our educational diagnostician will perform an assessment during the applicant’s classroom visitation day.
*Early Childhood applicants for CDO, 2s, and 3s do not participate in a visitation day or evaluation but are invited to visit with their parents.
Step 4: Admission Decision
If your child is accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter from the school. Tuition assistance, if awarded, will be included in the decision letter and contract. Click here to learn more about financial aid.
Step 5: Enrollment
To enroll your child at BYDS, you must return your signed contract prior to your child starting. The process is considered complete once the school contract is signed.
The admissions committee meets on a rolling basis and considers an application once the appropriate documentation, fees, and evaluation are received and assembled into a complete application file. Parents are notified as soon as possible of the final admissions decision, and the application process is considered complete when a school contract is signed.
